‘The Audition’ is a 52-minute long movie released by Kane
International about 1987. I don’t know of
any distributor that is still selling this title.
If you have followed my reviews then you will be aware that
I am a fan of the spanking movies made by George Harrison Marks (GHM). GHM left Janus in the fall of 1982 to create
Kane magazine and Kane International, the movie wing of the operation, started
soon afterward. The GHM biographies that
I’ve read agree that ‘The Cane and Mr. Abel’ was the first movie he made after
leaving Janus but the second movie, ‘Mandy Bait’, was the first to be released
under the Kane International banner.
‘The Audition’ is number 19 in the Kane International
catalogue but these numbers weren’t assigned until the beginning of on-line
sales, long after this movie was made. The
copyright date on the end card of the movie reads 1983 and the photostory based
on ‘The Audition’ appeared in issue #34 of Kane Magazine (the story for ‘Mandy
Bait’ appeared in issue #29). Based on
the copyright date and the magazine issue, I suspect that ‘The Audition’ was one
of the earliest Kane International movies and that it was probably filmed soon
after ‘Mandy Bait'.
I found a used DVD of this movie on sale at a spanking
convention many years ago. I watched it
when I got home but I can’t remember if I stuck with all the way to the end and
I never watched it again until a few days ago.
‘The Audition’ may well be the worst GHM spanking movie I have ever
watched. It shares several of the common
features of his movies including his fondness for girl-on-girl scenes and his
sense of humor as displayed in the movies ending but the movie but the planning
and execution simply aren’t up to GHM’s normal standards and many of the scenes
just run too long.
The movie features a cast of 6 (2M, 4F) and the actor playing
the stage director who is auditioning actresses for a musical is a familiar
face. The movie opens with a couple in
bed in the morning and this turns into a 10-minute long sex scene that is devoid
of any CP action aside from the woman giving her boyfriend a few light slaps on
his bottom. Occasionally the scene cuts
away to the woman’s roommate who is making coffee in the kitchen and reading a
newspaper called ‘The Stage’. At about
the 10-minute mark of the film the roommate breaks in on the couple in bed to
show her friend a casting call she has seen in the paper. The boyfriend is obviously irritated by this
intrusion and he pulls the roommate across his knee and starts to spank her. The girls eventually turn on him and a
general melee ensues. He leaves, never
to be scene again, at about the 16-minute mark and the two girls continue
without him until the 28-minute mark of the film. I think this would have been a better film if
this last scene had been cut in half.
An abrupt cut takes up to another apartment where a man is
playing the piano while one woman We eventually find out that the man is a
director who is holding auditions for a stage musical and his sister is
punishing an actress who he claims has wasted his time. Her punishment, which lasts nearly 5 minutes begins
with a hand spanking and ends with a caning.
After the caning, the miscreant leaves and passes the actress from the
earlier scenes as she is arriving for an audition. The sister brings our heroine in to meet the Director
and the audition begins. I think we are intended to believe that the director
is intentionally sabotaging her performance but she doesn’t seem to have much
of a singing voice so it is hard to tell.
Eventually she complains that the piano is out of tune and the Director
calls for his sister claiming that he has been insulted. The sister proposes a spanking and, after
some argument, the actress agrees to accept a spanking and that she might even
accept a caning if the Director gives her the part. The Director agrees and his sister takes charg
The actress if ordered to undress and the sister gives her a
hand spanking as the Director watches and comments on the action. A series of other implements follow and the
Director eventually joins in on the action and the punishment ends with the cane. After
the caning the actress is given the part as promised but the movie ends with a
typical GHM twist.
I’m not impressed with this movie. Unlike most GHM movies, it lacks a solid storyline
and some of the scenes runs just too long.
The cinematography isn’t up to GHM’s usually standards either. Many shots are poorly framed and the frequent
closeups make it hard to know what is actually happening. I haven’t watched this movie for along time
and I can’t imagine that I will be watching it again any time soon.
