The Caning Caretaker

 

‘The Caning Caretaker’ is an 88-minute Moonglow North movie (Moonglow DVD Catalogue no. N21) that was assembled in 2004 from edited versions of one recently made movie and two older movies:

1. The first segment, also called ‘The Caning Caretaker’ (40 minutes), is an edited version of ‘A Chance of a Lifetime’ (original length 57 minutes) although it is possible that it was filmed for this movie and then later sold separately in a longer format - the Moonglow on-line catalogue gives a date of 2004 for ‘The Caning Caretaker’ but the disclosure on the CalStar release says ‘A Chance of a Lifetime’ was filmed on January 5, 2005.  I reviewed ‘A Chance of a Lifetime’ on September 7, 2020 where I noted that ‘The Caning Caretaker’ is missing the first few minutes of ‘A Chance of a Lifetime’ and the entirety of the final 12 minutes with Alison Payne that is set the next day.  This segment also features a woman identified as Jane (or Janie) on the Moonglow girls directory who also appeared in ‘Humiliated Neighbours’ (N12) and ‘Legal Beatings’ (N13);
2. The second segment called ‘The Caned Nurse’ (23 minutes) is a slightly edited version of the Cavern movie ‘Patients Pains’ (CAV33B, original length 26 minutes).  I haven’t been able to identify the cast.  The blonde looks like a young Sara Benachour but I don’t think its her; and
3. The final segment called ‘The Caning Game Keeper’ (25 minutes) is an edited version of ‘The Game Warden’ (CAV33A, original length 33 minutes).  This segment also features Alison Payne.

The Moonglow DVD catalogue describes this movie as:

N21: Caning Caretaker.  The Caning Caretaker (40 minutes) Two pretty young wives enjoy going to the caretaker’s flat in the basement for some flirting. One evening Susan leaves her mobile phone behind before she and a friend go out. He reads her texts and discovers that she is going to see her lover. When she returns, he blackmails her. Take a caning from him or he will speak to her husband. Finally, she agrees and he gives her a full session of corporal punishment, including paddles and a sound caning. True punishment for a voluptuous young wife! The Caned Nurse (23 minutes) Mr. Fortescue hires two young nurses while he is recuperating from his operation. But they are both most unsatisfactory. He has to spank one for cleaning above his head while he is in bed, showering him in dust. The other’s timekeeping is appalling. After many warnings he decides to give her a good caning to buck up her ideas; boy, does her bottom suffer! The Caning Game Keeper (25 min) Moonglow favourite Alison is back in action here. When the game keeper catches her lighting a fire in his grounds, she is dragged back to his cottage, where he has a broad range of instruments ready and waiting to be applied to her bottom. Alison cannot believe what is happening to her, and especially to her bottom. She will be learning the Country Code as soon as she arrives home.

I’ve already posted about ‘A Chance of a Lifetime’ so I won’t talk about it again.  ‘The Caned Nurse’ cuts the three scenes with the brunette nurse and her boyfriend bicycling through a field from the beginning of ‘Patients Pains’, these account for all of the three minutes that was cut from the original movie.  This version opens with the blonde nurse dusting the room of a patient who is lying in bed reading.  She is one of two private duty nurses who have been hired to care for him after an operation and her partner is late for work again.  He complains about the work done by both of them and he sends her downstairs to bring up his bag.  Shortly afterward she returns to his room to catch him smoking in bed and she takes his cigarette away from him.  That is too much and he decides to deal with the situation using the contents of the bag she brought him.  He lays out his spanking implements on the extra bed and then begin to give her a hand spanking in several positions but her punishment never goes any further.  At about the 6-minute mark of the movie she announces that she has had enough and she gets up and leaves.

Eventually the second nurse arrives and her partner explains that their employer intends to fire her for
her tardiness if she doesn’t accept a spanking to be administered by the first nurse.  She finally agrees and they both go upstairs.  The punishment begins with a hand spanking, first OTK and ten lying on the bed where her employer starts to take over.  Next, she is in the diaper position for a leather strap administered by both her partner and her employer.  Then comes a wooden paddle followed by a dozen strokes of a flogger.  Finally, she bends over the end of the bed for a dozen strokes of the cane.  My only complaint here is that the camera positions could have been better.  The segment ends with her partner and her employer tending to the welts on her bottom.  

‘The Caning Gamekeeper’ (aka ‘The Game Warden’) was originally filmed in April 1999 according to the disclosure on the CalStar release where it was paired with the SfP movie ‘Caning Engagement’.  This segment opens with the Gamekeeper siting in his living room inspecting his spanking implements.  The door bell rings and his visitor is Alison Payne who has been caught lighting a camp fire on a private estate and, in the classic fashion, she has agreed to accept corporal punishment instead of going to court.

As usual, the punishment begins with an OTK spanking and then moves on to a small leather strap.  After this, she is ordered to remove her flannel shirt and jeans and change into a white nightgown.  The punishment continues with a large wooden spoon which seems to be quite effective and this is followed by a large leather strap.  Next, Alison is in the diaper position for a studded leather strap, and her panties come off part way through this.

At about the 15-mark, Alison bends over the couch for a dozen hard strokes with the flogger.  There is a brief break before the punishment continues with another 15 strokes of the flogger, just as hard as the first dozen, and these produce a more animated reaction that I’m used to seeing from Alison.  Finally, its time for the cane and Alison bends over a chair.  This a better position for the camera but they don’t take full advantage of that opportunity.  The caning is also delivered with a will and Alison jumps after several of the strokes.  She takes 24 strokes, with a brief break before the final six, in what may be the hardest caning I’ve ever seen her receive but the poor camera work and lighting is a problem.  The segment ends, once again rather abruptly, just after the end of the caning.

The first and third segments of this movie are well worth seeing but the second segment is a bit of a disappointment.  As is so often the case with Cavern movies, the cinematography could have been better.  Who ever does the camera work just doesn’t seem to know how to frame the action and this is particularly disappointing in the third segment where Alison receives one of the hardest punishments that I can recall seeing in one of her movies.

Spanked Lesbians

‘Spanked Lesbians’ is a 52-minute movie made by Cavern Spanking.  Its' catalogue number is CAV15.  I’m not certain of its production date but it was probably about 1994.  ‘Spanked Lesbians’ was never re-released by either CalStar or 6666 Productions but an edited (29 minute) version of 'Spanked Lesbians' was included at the end of  Moonglow North N04 ('Nursing Her Bottom') under the title 'The Joy Riders'.

‘Spanked Lesbians’ has a cast of four, not including a very brief appearance by Alison Payne in a non-speaking & non-spanking role.  But, despite the fact her appearance was only 25 seconds long, it was prominently featured in the Cavern Spanking on-line catalogue which is a clear indication of the size of her fan base.  The only member of the main cast I can identify is Ivor Gold who plays the rather befuddled Uncle of two young girls who are engaging in some lesbian play.  The other man is a familiar face; I don’t know his name but he appeared in many movies including the two SfP ‘Alfred and George’ movies that were made about the same time as this one.  I can’t identify either of the women.  I don’t think the short-haired woman is ever called by name until near the end of the movie when it sounds like she is addressed as ‘Steph’, it usually just something like “You, over here”.  The long-haired woman is called Lisa in this movie and I think she may be the same woman who plays ‘Parker’ in the ‘Class of ‘94’ but that may just be my imagination .  You never get a really good look at her face in either movie but I put two photos side-by-side below; the one on the left is from this movie and the one on the right is from ‘Class of ‘94’. She also seems to be about the same height as Ivor Gold in both movies.

The plot of this movie can be a little difficult to follow.  It starts with Uncle John (Ivor Gold) leaving the office and driving away.  From there it cuts to two girls dressed in school uniforms engaged in some girl-on-girl play.   At this point, the relationship between these two scenes isn’t clear.  After almost three minutes of the two girls there is a brief scene of Uncle John stopping at a park then its back to the two girls.  The first dialogue occurs 5:15 into the movie.  It is almost inaudible but Steph asks Lisa to spank her and she does.  This hand spanking isn’t very hard but it provokes a very excited vocal response.  It’s soon back to the park where Uncle John makes a call to Peter before starting his walk.  It’s 7 minutes into the movie and we finally find out what is happening.  John tells Peter that the girls tried to steal his jeep yesterday and he asks him to stop by his house to makes sure they aren’t getting into any trouble.  With that he is off for a walk in the park to clear his head.

After Uncle John heads off for his walk in the park while we briefly return to the girls who are still playing on the couch.  Meanwhile, John has wandered off the beaten path and he passes by Alison who is sunbathing in a secluded spot.   She is completely unaware of him so he continues walking.  I’m not sure why this scene is here; it serves no purpose.  I wouldn’t normally complain about seeing Alison in a nude scene but this one is hardly worth the effort.  And then it’s back to the couch again.

Eventually, a little before the 12-minute mark of the movie, Uncle John returns home and sees his two nieces on the couch.  He watches them for a couple of minutes before breaking in.  Somehow this confrontation turns into an argument about borrowing the jeep and Uncle John says no.  He sends them to their rooms then he takes a nap on the couch.  Once he’s asleep the two girls steal the keys to the jeep and head off into town.  This is when Peter finally arrives (remember, he was supposed to be there before Uncle John got home).  He stops the girls before they can get out of the driveway and escorts them back inside.   We’re now 17 minutes into the movie (one-third of the way through it) and it’s really just getting started.

The two men now punish the two girls for taking the jeep without permission.  This is the heart of the movie.  John brings a chair over to the center of the room and takes Steph over his knee for a hand spanking while Peter and Lisa watch.  Next Peter gives Lisa the same.  Then they all trade places and Peter starts spanking Steph but he quickly moves on to a hair brush and then John gives Lisa the same.  This all just goes on too long (about 13 minutes in total).

Around the 32-minute mark of the movie it’s time to move on to the tawse starting with Steph who kneels on an arm chair.  Each girl receives at least a dozen strokes plus some extra hand slaps just for good measure.  Then, after a very abrupt cut just after the 37-minute mark, its on to the cane.

The canings begin with Steph again and she seems out of her element.  I can’t help but wonder if this was her first spanking movie and, if so, I suspect it might also have been her last.  She receives six strokes from Uncle John then they two women trade places.  Lisa takes her place over the chair and Peter takes charge of the cane, although I think there may have been an error here because it sounds like that Uncle John calls Peter ‘Colin’ although I can’t be certain.  Lisa also receives six and then the women trade places again but Peter/Colin remains in control of the cane.  Six more strokes and then it’s back to Uncle John and Lisa for her second half-dozen.  Switch again and Steph receives her third half dozen, for the lesbian games this time, from Uncle John.  Finally, Colin (and its clear this time) gives Lisa her third half-dozen.  Then everyone leaves and the movie ends.

This movie was a disappointment, it takes far too much time to get going.  I could add a long list of other little problems but they are all minor compared to the pacing.  If I had time (but I don’t) I would like to try re-editing the movie to cut about 15 minutes, mostly off the front end.  I think that would make a much tighter movie.  Finally, I can't help but wonder if there is some relationship between this movie and the SfP movies 'Class of '94' and 'College Classics 8' (Cavern movies were being distributed by SfP prior to the creation of Moonglow North) in 1995.  These movies were all made about the same time, there is overlap between the casts and there are similarities in the style and production values.  This certainly isn't proof of a relationship but I can't get the possibility out of m mind.

UPDATE (May 2021):  I eventually did get to see 'The Joyriders' and it is a much better movie than 'Spanked Lesbians'.  The movie was shortened by cutting off all of the first 17 minutes to remove the lesbian games on the couch and Uncle John's walk in the park.  'The Joyriders' opens with the two girls stealing the keys to the jeep and running out to head into town.  Another 10 minutes is cut out of the remainder of the movie and the result is a much tighter movie. 

UPDATE #2 (May 2021):  I discovered that 'Spanked Lesbians' was also released as 'Naughty Lesbian Girls' by BFI, a company that seems to have been related to Roue.

Punished Thieves

 

‘Punished Thieves’ is a 60-minute video that was originally released by Moonglow North in 2003 under the name ‘Secretarial Tea-Leaf’.  It consists of four parts:

1.  The Chastised Thieves (at least that’s the name given on the movie title card but it’s called ‘Thieving Secretary; Sound Caning’ in the on-line catalogue, 33:57) featuring Tom Cooper and a woman identified as Jean in the Moonglow Girls Directory.  This was her first movie but she would go on to make ‘Corporal Cane(s)’ (C48) and ‘The Headmaster’s Study Revisited’ (TM-15) for Top Marks;

2.  The Paddled Cleaner (16:50) featuring an unknown actress who probably never made another movie;

3.  Paddled with the Hairbrush (4:48) featuring Nicky Montford; and

4.  83 strokes for Nicky Montford (5:26) also featuring Nicky Montford.

This is one of those movies that has an interesting story behind it.  Unfortunately, the story behind the movie is probably more interesting that the movie itself.  Rather than describe this movie I will quote the Moonglow DVD catalogue that is still available on-line and an archived copy of the Moonglow on-line catalogue.

From the DVD catalogue:

“N16: Secretarial Tea-Leaf.  This was meant to be two half hour videos with girls completely new to the scene. In the first part, Peter, a company director, discovers that his secretary has made many unauthorized transactions on the company credit card. In fact, she has worked the card hard in her own interest, and it costs her bottom dear; an interesting debut for a new girl to the scene. The second part is a complete disaster, but interesting as a result. The acting is frankly awful throughout. The girl bottles out near the beginning of the caning. The moral of this part is that making a spanking video is not nearly as easy as so many people think.”

From the on-line catalogue:

“Thieving Secretary; Sound Caning: In the first story, Peter, a company director, discovers that his secretary has made a large number of unauthorised transactions on the company credit card. In fact, she has worked the card hard in her own interest, and it costs her bottom dear. An interesting debut for a then new girl to the scene.

Finally, we have two superb clips starring the extraordinary Nicky Montford.

Paddled with the Hairbrush: Student Felicity likes staying with her step mother's father, Robert, while her parents are overseas. The kindly gentleman is normally a soft touch for most things that Felicity wants or likes. But when she insists that he learns to text on his new mobile phone, she generates a rebellion. Having made the effort, Robert finds that Felicity seldom bothers to reply to his texts. This irritates him no end and one day he joins Felicity, with a hairbrush in hand. This amuses her no end as he is bald. But he has other uses for it. To Felicity's absolute shock, he hauls her over his knees and gives her a sound spanking with the hairbrush. She has learnt a long overdue lesson; hairbrushes are multi-purpose!” 

83 strokes for Nicky Montford: Sixth former Nicky Montford is a riding fanatic. But when she is gated for the week-end, she still goes riding and is reported to Dr Wendlebury, her house master. He is furious with her attitude and makes her bend over for a beating. He starts with her own riding crop and applies forty strokes across her bottom. But her attitude does not improve; she even calls him by his nickname, Wendy. He substitutes the crop for the cane and then gives her a veritable thrashing. 83 strokes whip across her bottom before he sends her off. Nicky lives up to her reputation as a truly tough cookie in this one.”

I find it interesting that the on-line catalogue devoted as many words to the descriptions of the each of the two 5-minute Nicky Montford scenes at the end of the movie as it did to the two much longer earlier scenes combined (58, 58, 129 and 115 respectively).

George Harlow writes about the decision to change the title of this movie in ‘The Story of Moonglow: The Videos’, The LSF Wellred Weekly, Vol. 1, No. 12: Dec. 7, 2012 (http://www.wellredweekly.com/):

“At the end of the day, the irony was that good titles sold. Get the title wrong and the video tanked. Get a good title, and it flew out the door. We issued one video called Secretarial Tea-leaf. It had the worst sales ever. Fifteen years later it was renamed Punished Thieves, and it far outsold the original issue. Put the word housemaster in the title and the sky is the limit (at least sometimes.) As time wore on, we took more and more care of titling.”

This quote does raise questions about the dating of this movie.  I used 2003 which comes from the 2011 version of the Moonglow DVD catalogue.  In the 2012 article Harlow suggests that this movie was made at least 15 years earlier which would put the filming sometime in the nineties but I’ve seen nothing else that suggests Nicky Montford was making videos much before 2003.

The first sequence, ‘The Chastised Thieves’, is a simple two hander of a boss punishing his secretary who has abused the company credit card.  There isn’t much to say about it.  It is exactly what you might expect and, while there is nothing wrong with it aside from some uninspired camera work, there is nothing terribly interesting in it either.

The second sequence, ‘The Paddled Cleaner’, is more interesting but not in a good way.  The acting is poor even by spanking movie standards, there is a lot of inappropriate smiling and an almost uncountable number of flubbed lines then it just falls apart.  It is 17-minutes long but it was intended to be 30-minutes.  The first 6-1/2 minutes are set-up, literally, a home owner plants money to catch a cleaner he suspects of theft in the act.  So, as is usual in movies like this, the cleaner agrees to corporal punishment if the homeowner and her employer don’t call the police.  The punishment starts with about 3-1/2 minutes of hand spanking and then continues with a small wooden paddle.  At one point during the paddling (at about the 11-minute mark of the segment) you can hear the director telling the actress to look at the camera and then he counts them back into action, this probably should have been cut and it is the first indication that things are going wrong.

The strap is next.  After the first half dozen strokes of the strap there are growing indications of
resistance from the actress and a few bits of almost inaudible conversation between the performers.  She breaks position twice during the second half-dozen strokes of the leather strap from her employer and she looks like she is about to refuse when the home owner brings out a studded strap.  She does eventually bend over a chair for the studded strap but she doesn’t stay there long.  She breaks position again after one stroke and you can hear her say “no we can’t” afterward.  She returns to position for a few more strokes but then walks away again with a clearly audible “what the fuck was that” followed by “you bitches”.  The camera has trouble keeping up with her as she walks around for a minute or two. There is another mention of the cane but the segment ends abruptly before the promised caning ever begins.  I can only assume the actress refused to continue but that isn’t shown.

The final two short scenes with Nicky Montford are the best part of the movie but they simply aren’t enough to save it.

This movie simply isn’t very good.  The second segment is a train wreck but it is interesting in its own way, much like looking at a car accident as you drive by.  Other movies have been impacted by a performer refusing to continue, the RGE/Lupus movie ‘Wild Party 3’ comes to mind, but I’ve never seen one fall apart so obviously before.  I almost wish the segment had been allowed to run for another few minutes so we could see the final collapse.  That might have made the movie worthwhile but, as it is, there is really no reason to watch this movie.

Cavern Spanking

Update Aug. 2021 - I think I have identified another Cavern movie.  I don't know anything about the original release but I believe that a 55-minute version was released in the US by CalStar under the name 'The Truant Officer' and a 28-minute version was included on Moonglow North Compendium Two (Moonglow DVD no. N05) under the name 'Striptease Schoolgirls'.  The story involves two schoolgirls who skip school in order to dance at a strip club but they are caught, and suitably punished, by a Truant Officer'.  There is still one Cavern movie that I haven't been able to identify.

Just hours after writing the above I found what I believe is the last missing Cavern movie.  Again, I don't know anything about the original release but I believe that a 35-minute version was released in the US by CalStar under the name 'Naughty Lodger' and a 19-minute version was included on Moonglow North Compendium Six (Moonglow DVD no. N09) under the name 'Spanks for the Spliff'.  The story involves a girl found in position of a marijuana cigarette (a 'spliff' in English slang).

Almost a year ago, in May 2020, I started working my way through the Cavern Spanking films.  I’ve learned a lot in that year and, though I haven’t learned all that I would like, I seem to have learned all that I can.  Consequently, I’m going to delete my May 2020 filmography, that has been updated a couple of times since then, and replace it with this one.  There are about three more Cavern movies that I would like to review then I will move on.

What I know is that Mel & Alison Payne (aka Alison de Bret, Lisa Payne and Lisa Wiggin) seem to have appeared on the English spanking movie scene about 1992.  They appeared in a couple of Kane movies and then started making their own.  Their early movies (1993-99) were mostly sold to Spanking for Pleasure and these movies were eventually sold through a website called Cavern Spanking which was run by Jardale Publishing (which also ran several other SfP websites).  The Cavern Spanking website operated from late 2003 through 2016 when most of the Jardale websites were shut down.

In 1999, Mel joined with Moonglow to create Moonglow North.  He continued making movies and distributing them through Moonglow North until about 2007 (Alison retired from making new movies about 2005).  During his Moonglow years he released 8 compendiums that included versions (sometimes edited) of his earlier movies.  I don’t know what Mel & Alison have been doing since Moonglow North stopped producing new work.

I have also seen some information that suggests there were other principals involved with Cavern Spanking and the differing styles among the Cavern movies is certainly consistent with that possibility.  One of the other principals may be the actor known as Anthony Lawton but I can't confirm that. 

I think there were 41 Cavern movies (and maybe a few more) produced between 1993 and 1999.  This number is based on the catalogue numbers from the Cavern website but it isn’t certain.  I have been able to identify all 41 of those movies and they are listed in the table below.  Some of the movies were also released by CalStar and 6666 Productions and those, along with the versions on the Moonglow North Compendiums, are frequently renamed which creates a great deal of confusion.  I have listed the alternate names where I know them.  Many of the dates given below are from the disclosure statements at the beginning of the CalStar release of the movies, if there was one.

The catalogue numbers are from the Cavern Spanking website and the refer to a VHS tape or DVD rather than a specific movie.  Five (5) of the DVDs contained more than one movie; these are 18 (A, B & C), 23 (A & B), 28 (A & B), 33 (A & B) and 35 (A & B). 

CalStar released nineteen (19) Cavern movies in whole or in part.  Several were paired with other SfP movies on English Spanking Classics (ECS) or English Discipline Series (EDS) tapes.  ‘Penalty Strokes 1’ was severely cut to make one segment of an English Punishment Series compendium.  At least 5 Cavern and Moonglow North movies were also released by 6666 Productions, a company that I know very little about. Again, the names were sometimes changed.

Just a personal note - I've seen 36 Cavern movies and 'Cautioned with the Cane' and 'Penalty Strokes 2' are my favorites with an honorable mention to 'Penalty Strokes 1' and 'The Boot and Flogger'.

Moonglow North Compendium N06 also contains footage from ‘Class of ’94’ which was released by SfP in 1994.  That movie features Alison Payne and Ivor Gold.  I believe that it was made by Mel & Alison but I haven’t included it here as a Cavern movie.  I don’t know if Mel had and involvement with the other SfP ‘Class of ‘95, ’96, ’97 or ‘02’ movies.

There are three longer segments and several short clips included on the Moonglow North Compendium movies that may be from Cavern movies that I haven’t been able to identify.  The longer segments are ‘Nursing Her Bottom’ (Moonglow North N04), ‘Spanks for the Spliff’ (N09) and 'Nursing Her Bottom' (N04) which might be 'Naughty Nurse' (CAV32); a couple of the pictures on the Cavern website are similar to pictures in the Moonglow on-line catalogue but not similar enough that I can make a decision.
