Roue Classics

UPDATE (Jul. 2022):  I added more information about the suspension of publication of the magazine in 1982. 

Recently I’ve worked my way through the movies of Blushes and Phoenix.  I’ve covered the Janus movies and some of the Kane movies in the past but I have paid very little attention to Roue.  It’s probably time that I correct that oversight.  There is a list of 29 Roue movies on the Roue website (www.roue.com) that is divided into 3 series.  There are 18 Roue Classics, 10 Roue Films and 1 Roue Blue.  The Roue Classics are from the eighties and the other series come later.  Roue did not always announce their movies in the magazine in the same way that Kane and Blushes did and this makes it harder to date the movies.  But they did announce some of the movies and they occasionally published lists of the movies that were available.  From these, I identified three more early Roue movies that were not included among the Roue Classics on the website.

“Jane and the Tutor” is the first Roue movie, and it one of those not listed among the Roue Classics on the website.  There is an advertisement for “Jane in the Tutor” in Roue 13 which is the earliest copy of Roue that I have ever seen.  The same ad appears in several later issues of Roue and I’m not aware of an ad for another movie until “Four O’clock Report” is advertised in Roue 21.  “After Hours” and “Tutor’s New Pupil” are the other movies not included on the website

None of the major British spanking magazines of the eighties put dates on issues so turning issue numbers into dates can be a challenge.  Most sources say that Roue began publishing in 1978 and that there was a major disruption between Roue 22 and 23 resulting from the death of the original owner and the sale of the magazine in 1982.  Finally, I have a copy of Roue 28 and a message to readers concludes with “See you in 1984”.  Those three pieces of information form the basis for my dating of the issues but my dates are only approximate and they could easily be off by a few months either way.

My list of the ‘Roue Classic’ movies (including the three not listed on the website) is below.  I have listed the first issue that mentions the film (I haven't been able to find an issue for one movies) and my best estimate of the date of that issue.  This list includes the Roue Film and Roue Blue movies and I will add more information on these as I find it.
