When I think of British spanking magazines of the eighties there are five that I consider to be the top tier: Janus, Kane, Roue, Blushes and Phoenix. Some people might disagree with including Phoenix in that list (and I think of it as being fifth on the list) but I think the other four are beyond dispute. One thing that all five have in common is that they all produced or distributed (or both) spanking movies. I have already posted filmographies for Janus and Kane and it’s time for the other three. Blushes and Phoenix are easy because they both stopped distributing movies after the Video Recordings Act 1984 received Royal Assent on July 12, 1984. This Act prohibited publicly offering videos for sale or rent in the UK unless they had been rated by the British Board of Film Classification and the BBFC refused to rate any material that offended public decency. It turned out that the Act didn’t actually come into force in the United Kingdom until September 1, 1988. Some producers were able to circumvent the Act by creating foreign subsidiaries (SfP sold movies from an office in Holland) or by only selling to members of a ‘private club’ but Blushes and Phoenix got out of the movie business in 1984.
Blushes was one of a number of spanking magazines published by Broadway Publishing of Sevenoaks, Kent. Others included the Blushes spinoffs Blushes Supplement, Letters to Blushes, Dear Blushes and New Blushes as well as Justice, Vixen, Uniform Discipline and Whispers. Blushes was the premiere title and its’ surplus material, such as unused photos from Blushes photoshoots, often appeared, used in completely different ways, in the other magazines. Ninety-three (93) issues of Blushes were published beginning in 1982 followed by another 24 issues of New Blushes (identified as Volume 2). Blushes was usually published bi-monthly with an issue of one of the other magazines being published in the off-months. Blushes followed the usual pattern in British spanking magazines of never identifying the writers or models whose work appeared in the magazine. Janus was one of the few British spanking magazines that deviated from this practice with the result that some Janus writers and models developed their own fan base.
There are a lot of movies that are occasionally attributed to Blushes but I can only confirm five. By confirm, I mean that I know that the release of the movie was announced in Blushes, with or without an accompanying photostory. These five are listed in the table below. My only caution on that list is that I do not have access to a complete collection of Blushes. In fact, my collection is small. It mostly covers the years from 1982 to 1986 and it isn’t complete even in that period. Nevertheless, there is no mention of the Blushes movies in any of the issues beyond 1984 even though several issues devote 3 or 4 pages to advertising the availability of back issues of the magazine.
The table below lists the five Blushes movies that are announced in the magazine along with the issue of the magazine that contains the announcement, the movie length and the US release.

There are a number of other videos that are sometimes described as Blushes movies. I have listed the more credible claims in the table below but I have never been able to confirm that any of these are Blushes movies and I have my doubts about several of them. I will add more information as I find it.
