I have received a number of comments from readers over the last few months and I just wanted to say ‘Thank you’. Not only is it nice to know that someone is actually reading these posts but I also appreciate the information that has been provided. I have made corrections or additions where appropriate and I’m investigating a couple of leads that I’ve been given. I did want to address one comment in more detail. It concerns a movie I mentioned in my ‘Barbie Mel Filmography’ called ‘The Mark of the Cane’. I have seen this movie referenced in several places including the Barbie Mel page on ‘The Spanking Art Wiki’ but I had never been able to find a copy.
I know very little about SMAX Video. I first discovered SMAX when I found a copy of the movie ‘Caned Journalists’. Since then, I’ve found four other SMAX movies: ‘1937 – As It Really Happened’, ‘Be Home by Midnight’, ‘Twins in Trouble’ and ‘SMAX Screentests’. The Spanking Art Wiki says that they had a webpage in the early 2000s but I haven’t been able to find it on the ‘Internet Archive Wayback Machine’ and I can’t find anything else about the company anywhere on the web at present.
Years ago I found a copy of a movie posted on a spanking board but the title cards had been stripped off and the file name was a meaningless name & number so I had no idea of the name of the movie or the producer. The movie opens on a classroom scene with student named Melanie, played by Barbie Mel, and a teacher who is saying “No, no, for heaven’s sake, you’re in the sixth form …”. This movie contains a very distinctive scene where the teacher goes downstairs to talk to a handyman named Frank who advises him on the use of corporal punishment. A few years after I found that movie, I read a review of a CalStar movie called “Classroom Spanking” but I have never been able to find anything else about that movie (CalStar distributed a lot of Spanking for Pleasure movies, and other British spanking movies, in the US). The review mentioned the scene with the handyman and the rest of the review was consist with the unknown movie that I had so, based on that review, I concluded that my unknown movie was ‘Classroom Spanking’. I knew that Barbie Mel made several movies for SfP so finding another one wasn’t surprising.
A recent comment questioned that identification. The commenter had a copy of 'Mark of the Cane' and he noted that the Barbie Mel movie shared some similarities with ‘Caned Journalists’ so I went back and compared the two. As he noted, they certainly do have a similar ‘look’ although the quality of prints of the two movies that I have is very poor. Screencaps of each of the two movies are pasted below. He also noted that the man in ‘Mark of the Cane’ was not Christian Fennington (although he acknowledged the similarity) and said that the same man also appeared in other SMAX movies including ‘Caned Journalists’. I went back and looked at this and, while the man in the SMAX movies does resemble Fennington and their voices are also similar, he is clearly heavier than Fennington and there are some other differences so they can’t be the same person.
Given all this, I agree that there is a SMAX Video called ‘The Mark of the Cane’ featuring Barbie Mel and I’m going to correct my filmography of her. I think ‘Caned Journalists’ and ‘The Mark of the Cane’ will probably be my next two reviews and I’ll also send a comment to the other reviewer about the identification of this movie.
Thank you for all the comments I’ve received recently. Please keep them coming. I always appreciate any corrections, information or leads that you might be able to provide.
You are right that the two are different videos. The first screenshot is from Mark of the cane. You are also correct that the guy in the Mark of the cane is not Chris Fennington. He is a guy who ran spanking parties in the UK back in the eighties. I can't recall his name but it is not Chris.
ReplyDeleteI have a poor copy of Mark of the cane - I have never been able to get hold of a decent copy. I suspect that there aren't any about.
