A Victorian Maid

‘A Victorian Maid’ is a 50-minute movie produced on Dec. 3, 2000 according to the CalStar title cards.  It was released in the US on DVD as part of CalStar's English Discipline Series in 2001 and again as English Spanking Classics #64 in 2010.  I believe that it was one of SfP’s Paradox releases in the UK but I don’t know that for certain.  ‘A Victorian Maid’ is currently available on Spankflix and through both Clips4Sale.com and HotMovies.com.  I occasionally see a clip of ‘Victorian Maid’ on internet sites under the name ‘Victorian Interlude’ but there is an older Roue movie called ‘Victorian Interlude’ (see http://xhamster.com/videos/victorian-interlude-xlx-452422 and http://spankingfilmreview.com/2014/04/21/victorian-interlude-calstar/) that is unrelated.

‘A Victorian Maid’ begins with the Governess asking the family maid, Rose, if the master’s daughter Florence has returned since she is long overdue.   After a short interrogation, the Governess determines that Florence has gone off riding with the stable boy, against her instructions, and she sends Rose of to find them.  Eventually Florence returns and the Governess quickly demolishes the story Florence tells her about where she had been.   Florence’s father has left instructions about how his daughter is to be punished in his absence and the Governess is determined to follow those instructions to the letter.

The Governess tells Florence to take her hat and cape off.  She calls Rose to take Florence’s hat and cape and she tells her to return in 10 minutes.  Once Rose has left, the Governess starts lifting Florence’s skirts and she opens her pantaloons to expose her bottom.   She has Florence bend over and begins to give her a hand spanking.   She soon decides that this isn’t adequate and she takes Florence over her knee.  A long spanking follows but Florence begins laughing part way through and the Governess decides that it is time for Florence’s dress to come off and then the long hand spanking continues.  Rose walks in just as the Governess decides it’s time for Florence’s corset to come off so Rose undoes the strings, removes the corset and then leaves with the dress.  Florence bends over the desk as the Governess takes her paddle out of the desk drawer.  After a lengthy paddling, the Governess calls for Rose and tells her to take Florence to her bedroom and then to return for her own discipline.  Rose tucks Florence into bed and we never see her again. This part of the story takes nearly 17 minutes.  I like it but I do regret that it didn’t end with Florence removing her pantaloons for a caning.

After Rose puts Florence to bed, we cut away to a 6-minute scene with Michael Dawes, looking much older than he did in ‘The Bounder’, disciplining his maid, Miss Gresham, for breaking a family heirloom.  After a very brief set up he has her bend over a stool, he lifts her dress and opens her pantaloons.  He tells her that he is going to give her 30 strokes of the cane and then its straight to business.  Mid way through the caning he sends her off to get a bottle of wine and the scene cuts back to Rose and the Governess.

We return to the Governess just as she rings the bell to call Rose.  When Rose arrives, she is immediately over the Governess’ knee for a hand spanking.  After about 3 minutes Rose’s pantaloons come down and the hand spanking continues for another 2 minutes. Eventually, the Governess reminds Rose that she had been told that she would receive the birch the next time she was punished but, before that, she tells Rose to undress for the paddle.  Rose does as she is told (although it appears that there is a zipper on her dress) while the Governess waits impatiently, and then she bends over the desk.  The paddling scene is filmed from several camera angles but the Governess is right-handed and her body is partially blocking the parts of the paddling that are filmed from one camera position.  The paddle is applied forcefully and at a leisurely pace over the course of nearly 7 minutes.  The Governess wields the paddle from several different positions and some of her strokes elicit a very strong response.

Finally, its time for the birch and, if you have read my posts in the past, you may know that this is one of my favorite implements and one that I don’t see nearly often enough.  The spray birch has been soaking, which was usual, and the Governess takes some practice swings to dry it off.  Like the paddle, the birch is applied forcefully and with the expected response.  There appear to be about 20 strokes but some are obviously shown from more than one camera angle.  The final stroke seems particularly hard and I would have like to have seen Rose's face after that stroke.  When the birching is finished, Rose is told that she will receive both the birch and the cane if she is ever punished again and then she is sent off to bed.

The scene goes back to Miss Gresham returning with the wine but she has also taken the opportunity to partially undress, obviously with the intent of escaping the rest of the caning, but the attempt fails.  The caning continues and, while it is harder than many, it is mostly filmed from behind and we only get to see her face three times during the caning, one of those views is very brief and shadows are a problem.  She also can’t resist looking at the camera.  After her caning, Miss Gresham is sent off to the kitchen and the movie ends very abruptly.

I have the CalStar release of ‘A Victorian Maid’, which ends with a preview of ‘Caned for Benefits’. The two parts of ‘A Victorian Maid’ are so different that I sometimes wonder if it is actually two separate movies that have been cut together.  CalStar often put two movies on one tape but, when they did, it was always one after the other which leads me to believe that ‘A Victorian Maid’ was originally produced as one movie.  However, it just doesn’t feel like one movie.  Not only are the two stories completely unrelated, except for the occupation of the title character, but it doesn’t even seem like they were filmed by the same movie maker.

I like this movie.  I prefer the scenes with Rose and Florence but the caning of Miss Gresham does have its moments.  I particularly like Rose’s birching and I think it may be the best birching scene I’ve found in any movie.  I had seen screen caps of this movie many times before I bought it and I had wondered if Florence might have been played by the same woman who played Lisa in ‘The Bounder’.  But Florence looks younger than Lisa so, once I realized that ‘The Bounder’ had been made 15 years or so before ‘A Victorian Maid’, it was clear that they couldn’t possibly be the same woman.  I eventually found a listing for ‘A Victorian Maid’ on the British Girls Adult Film Database (http://www.bgafd.co.uk/films/details.php/id/v00346) and it that listing leads me believe that Florence is played by ‘Rebecca Lee’, an adult film actress with a long list of hardcore credits but no other spanking movies that I could see.  I posted her picture so you can decide for yourself.
