‘Kelly and Jane Discover the Cane’ is a 44-minute movie that was originally released (on VHS tape) by Moonglow in 1998. It was later released on DVD combined with ‘The Sports Mistress’ (Moonglow DVD Catalogue no. C01). The movie was also rereleased by Moonglow International under the title ‘Kelly and Jane’. That release is currently available on several video-on-demand sites such as www.hotmovies.com Barbie Mel has appeared in three movies with stories that involve an author of spanking fiction. Two of these, ‘Paperback Writer’ and ‘Little Red Apples’, were from Strictly English’s Tiffany Jones Trilogy. The third was Moonglow’s ‘Kelly and Jane Discover the Cane’ which was one of her last movies. In this movie she plays Kelly, the maid to the writer, who is played by a familiar face who appeared in several Moonglow movies. Sara Benachour (aka Lisa Hughes) plays his secretary. The movie opens with the writer dictating a chapter of his latest novel to Jane (with brief glimpses of the scene being played out). Eventually they take a break and he checks his wallet before heading off to the store only to find that he had less money than he had thought. Jane looks puzzled and then she calls Kelly into the office. When Kelly arrives, Jane asks her about the missing money. After a short discussion Jane decides to search Kelly and she tells her to get undressed. Kelly undresses to her bra and panties (but no further) and Jane searches her. During the search, Jane plants the money in Kelly’s panties (and somehow Kelly doesn’t notice this happening) and then Jane ‘discovers the money. She tells Kelly that she is ‘going to be severely punished for this’. Jane tells her to go to the bedroom, take off all of her clothes, lie on the bed (which is right out of the scene that was just dictated, and wait for her employer to return home. Kelly goes to the bedroom, undresses to her panties and bra (I recall ever having seen her nude in any movie), retrieves a strap from a dresser drawer and lies down on the bed to wait. Mr. Colwyn returns home and immediately asks Jane if she had caught her. Jane replies that everything went ‘swimmingly’; the whole affair was obviously a set up. This has all taken about 12-1/2 minutes. He starts with a hand spanking and then, despite her protestations of innocence, he moves on to the strap. After the strap Kelly starts to tell Mr. Colwyn about other things that have gone on around the house, including a lost manuscript, and he starts to suspect that Jane may not be completely innocent so he goes downstairs to investigate. This segment only lasts about 5 minutes.
Kelly gets up and puts on a robe and soon Mr. Colwyn and Jane arrive. There is a brief argument between the two women then Kelly is sent off to wait in the living room. He tells jane to take off her dress and she is soon over his knee and then on the bed for more hand spanking and a lengthy strapping with some struggling. This segment lasts nearly 10 minutes and then he takes her downstairs to join Kelly.
Neither will accept responsibility for the loss of a chapter of his book that was to be mailed to the publisher so he decides to cane both of them. Kelly is first. He takes her back upstairs and has her bend over the end of the bed for six strokes of the cane. Next, it’s Jane and she also receives 6 and then its back to the living room. He asks again who is responsible for the lost chapter and, when neither will confess, he threatens to fire both. Finally, Jane says that they had both decided not to mail the chapter since they had both been denied a pay raise. After some discussion they both agree to accept another 12 strokes of the cane. Neither can afford to lose their job so they agree and its back to the bedroom (I was hoping they would stay in the living room which would have allowed for better camera positioning). Once again, Kelly is first. Some of the strokes are repeated in slow motion which is something I have never liked and it does make the scene drag. The movie ends with the two women back in the living room. This movie has its moments but just not enough of them. The biggest problem is the small size of the bedroom which results in very poor camera positions for much of the movie. Only at the very end of each of the two final canings do we get what I would consider a decent camera angle. Omitting the slow motion would have also shortened the movie by almost 5 minutes which I think would have been an improvement.
