I love British spanking movies of the eighties and nineties and I've spent the last few years delving into their history. I started this blog to share my interest and what I've learned about it.

Can you help me find a movie? I have been able to finding a few of the Kane I've been searching for with the help of two readers but there are still several others that I'm trying to find. These include Take Three Girls, The French Maid (aka The French Maid's Flogging), Stripe Me Pink, Housewives Choice and The Real Business. Please leave a comment if you know where I might be able to find any of these.

Rattan College 3

‘Rattan College 3’ is a Moonglow movie that is often mentioned but I have never been able to find it.  The Moonglow DVD catalogue lists two movies in the Rattan College series: C04 – ‘The Sports Mistress (Rattan College 1)’ and C05 – ‘Rattan College 2’ which consists of three segments, ‘Sarah Remembers Everything’, ‘Rhyme & Reason’ (aka Impertinence) and ‘Term Ends’, but there is no ‘Rattan College 3’.  I kept looking until a few months ago I dug back into the Internet Wayback Machine and I managed to find the on-line catalogue of Moonglow VHS tapes from 1999.  It turns out that there was a VHS tape called ‘Rattan College 3’ which consisted of ‘Rhyme & Reason’ and ‘Term Ends’ in that order.  ‘Rattan College 2’ (C5 in the VHS catalogue) and ‘Rattan College 3’ (C6) were later combined on one DVD called ‘Rattan College 2’ (C05 in the DVD catalogue).  The listings for some other DVDs say that two movies where combined into one DVD but that isn’t mentioned for ‘Rattan College 2’.  Just to add to the confusion, the DVDs were assigned catalogue number that differ, but are in the same format, as the catalogue numbers for the VHS tapes.  So, the VHS tapes C5 and C6 were combined to create the DVD C05.  That’s one mystery solved.  I have copies of ‘The Sports Mistress’ and ‘Sarah Remembers Everything’ but I still wasn’t been able to find a copy of ‘Rattan College 3’ (‘Rhyme & Reason’ and ‘Term Ends’) until...

A 1-hour and 52-minute long spanking movie called ‘Classic Discipline’ has been making the rounds of the spanking boards over the last couple of months.  A contact print of scenes from it is shown above.  It was one of those movies that looked familiar but I couldn’t identify it.  The movie has no title or closing cards and no other identification except a ‘B.F.I’ bug.  With some digging I finally discovered that the first two segments of ‘Classic Discipline’ are the full 24-minute version of ‘Term Ends’ followed by ‘Rhyme and Reason/Impertinence’, the two parts of ‘Rattan College 3’ but in reversed order.  The third, 44-minute long, segment of ‘Classic Discipline’ contributes most of the images on the contact print.  It also looks very familiar but I haven’t been able to identify it yet.  The final segment of ‘Classic Discipline’ is 14-minutes long and I don’t recognize it at all.  It doesn’t strike me as ’Moonglow’ material, although I could be wrong because Moonglow was comprised of three different producers.  (Update:  It's from the Cavern Spanking movie 'Troublesome Daughters' which was also released as 'Suffering Asses' by 6666 Productions.) Nevertheless, I finally found the two segments of 'Rattan College 3'.

‘Rhyme and Reason’ (aka 'Impertinence', which is a better title) is 34-minutes long.  It was the first segment of the VHS tape ‘Rattan College 3’ and it is now the second segment of the DVD ‘Rattan College 2’.  The movie features Dawn Davies (Lucy Bailey) and it is currently available under the name ‘Impertinence’ from www.hotmovies.com

Update (Sep. 2020):  I have learned that this movie was also released by 6666 Productions under the title "Learn More'.  This version is also available from www.hotmovies.com.

‘Virginia Bottomley' (Dawn Davies/Lucy Bailey) has made the mistake of writing naughty couplets about teachers and schoolgirls in an exercise book she submitted to her teacher for grading.  He calls her into his study and confronts her with his discovery.  He starts by having her read the couplets while he acts them out until they come to one that reads ‘Mr. Formley is a dirty old man, he uses his cane whenever he can’.  He points out the cane hanging on the wall and asks her if that is the one that she had meant.

He tells her to take off her skirt then clear the table so she can lie across it.  He starts by giving her 18 strokes with a leather tawse then he has her stand, facing the wall, while he returns to grading exercises.  After a fade out, he tells her to stand in front of the desk and he has her read the first couplet from another page in her book.  After she does, he has her bend over the desk for 2 strokes of the cane.

Afterward, he has her stand up and read the second couplet which is followed by another 2 strokes.  Then the third couplet followed by two more strokes.  Then the fourth couplet followed by another 2 strokes.   And the fifth couplet (accompanied by background noise of an alarm and children somewhere nearby) and another 2 strokes.  And the sixth ..., but at the seventh she reads the previous one again so she receives two strokes for that mistake.  Then he tells her again to read the seventh couplet, she doesn’t want to read it so she tries mumbling but he hears the word slowly so his next two strokes are delivered slowly and with false starts.  Finally, the last couplet.  He has her read it, and then read it again, and then once more but he stops her before she finishes.  He tells her that he has decided this last couplet deserves twelve strokes so he her put two chairs back-to-back and kneel over them.  The twelve hard strokes follow, all in one take, but the chairs are poorly placed so they don’t give a good camera angle.  Afterward he has her dress then he gives her a short lecture and tells her to sit at the desk for 30 minutes.

The biggest problem with ‘Rhyme and Reason’ is the pacing; five minutes less would have made a much better movie.  There is also too much, and sometimes very inappropriate, background noise and the space really isn’t suitable for filming.  The action is good but I would have like to have seen Victoria’s face during the final caning.

‘Term Ends’ is 24-minutes long according the VHS catalogue as is the version included in ‘Classic Discipline’.  It was the second segment of the VHS tape ‘Rattan College 3’ and it is now the third and final segment of the DVD ‘Rattan College 2’.  A re-edited 19-minute version of ‘Term Ends’ is currently available from the Classic British Spanking shop on www.clips4sale.com.  The movie features Alison Payne, Jenny Close (Karen), Dawn Davies (Lucy Bailey), Jane Smith (Julie) and Nick Urzdown who describes the making of the movie in his blog ‘Memories of a Strict Uncle’ (http://strictuncle.blogspot.com/2010/05/spanking-for-moonglow-1990s.html but the same story appears in his book ‘A Spanking Good Life’):

“I duly arrived on time to film my part in Rattan College 3. As someone who had worked for the BBC I was amazed to see that CP videos did not have either a script, nor a technical script for the technicians. Come to think of it, this shoot did not actually have any technicians either - what it had was George who acted as director, cameraman, sound man and brew lad all rolled into one. We were given our instructions and then left to develop the characters as we saw fit. OK, put another way, I was told to make a headmasterly speech to the girls and then get them upended across my knee one by one.

The studio was tiny; just one square room with one corner taken up by a sitting room set and the other a classroom. A third corner was the entrance and the fourth was filled with about half a dozen chairs, all occupied by men who had paid to watch the shoot. In theory three of the four girls who I was working with that day should have arrived at hourly intervals, to video their scenes. The fourth was there all the time since she was doubling up as the buffet lady. . .

"Julie, it's time to be caned."

"Just as soon as I've got these sausage rolls out of the oven."

It was chaos. Girls arrived in their own good time and the shoot dragged on into the evening. The lights made the tiny, overcrowded set even hotter than it would otherwise have been and to cap it all a girl named Karen finished her shoot, went off to get some food in the kitchen, and then came back to announce that she was leaving - thus ruining an otherwise flawless take that was being shot. Needless to say, the young madam was promptly bent over and given six of the very best for her female irresponsibility, but it still meant more work for the rest of us.

"That's a wrap!" When we heard those magic words everyone on the set just let out an enormous sigh. The lights were switched off, the camera was packed away, and those of us who were up to it made out way to the nearest pub for a pint or three.”

‘Term Ends’ is a simple story told four times … its wash, rinse, repeat.  Nick Urzdown plays the headmater and Carolyn (Alison Payne) is the first student to enter his office (the same room, with the yellow wallpaper, that appeared in Rhyme and Reason but with different furniture).  Her performance on her final examinations has been poor and in less than a minute she is over his knee then its skirt up, panties down and, after a short hand spanking, its off to the punishment room and over the desk for 12 hard strokes of the cane.  Carolyn’s story is finished in 7 minutes.

Victoria (Jenny Close/Karen) is next.  She left the residence and claims that Miss Smith (Jane
Smith/Julie) gave her permission, which she isn’t authorized to do.  Miss Smith is sent away and Victoria is over the Headmaster knee for a quick had spanking then its off to the punishment room for 12 strokes. Victoria’s scene is also about 7 minutes.

Now its Susan (Dawn Davies/Lucy Bailey) with Miss Smith again.  Susan was caught cheating but Miss Smith tries to defend her, unsuccessfully.  There is a bit of a change, she goes straight to the punishment room for the slipper followed by six with the cane. Susan’s scene is barely 5 minutes.

Finally, it’s time to deal with Miss Smith.  After a short conversation on the couch its off to the punishment room for six with the cane.  Then its skirt off and panties down for another six.  Her scene also lasts about 5 minutes.

The only version of ‘Terms Ends’ I’ve ever seen is the one from ‘Classic Discipline’ and it seems a like it’s unedited film straight from the camera.  There are pauses for direction and repeated scenes from different angles together with some very rough cuts.  The sound and lighting are barely adequate, some shots are out of focus and there is a little background noise in the final scene.  In his blog, Nick Urzdown says that he re-edited some of the movies he sells and I can see how he could easily cut 5 minutes out of this one and improve it in the process (I wish he had done that with 'Rhyme and Reason').  However, I don’t think he could possibly improve it enough to make it into a movie worth watching.  I would give this one a pass unless you can find ‘Classic Discipline’ on a spanking movie board.
